This depends on the organization requesting it, not on a fixed rule. For Ontario security guard and investigator licensing, a CRJMC must typically be dated within 6 months of the application. For most other employment, immigration, and volunteering purposes, organizations commonly accept a check that is 6 to 12 months old. Always confirm the required age of the check with the organization asking for it.
On a standard CPIC check, withdrawn and dismissed charges typically do not appear. On a CRJMC check, only convictions and current outstanding matters are disclosed. Conditional and absolute discharges appear for 3 years and 1 year respectively.
