CPIC & CRJMC Criminal Record Checks in Surrey, BC

A CPIC (Criminal Record Check) shows only criminal convictions from the Canadian Police Information Centre database. A CRJMC (Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check) is more comprehensive – it includes everything in a CPIC check PLUS outstanding charges, warrants, peace bonds, probation orders, and other judicial matters. Security guard licenses in Ontario and many positions of trust require CRJMC specifically.

Most criminal record checks are completed within 15 minutes during business hours. In some cases where additional verification is needed, results may take up to 24-48 hours. We'll email your certificate as soon as it's ready, and you can pick up a physical copy if needed.

You need two pieces of valid government-issued identification. One MUST include your photo (driver's license, passport, BC ID card, PR card). The second can be your birth certificate, citizenship certificate, SIN card, or work/study permit. Both must show your current legal name and date of birth.

For security guard licenses in Ontario, CRJMC checks must be dated within 6 months of your license application. For other purposes (employment, immigration, volunteering), validity periods vary by organization. Most employers accept checks that are 6-12 months old, but some require more recent verification. Always confirm requirements with the requesting organization.

Most CPIC and CRJMC checks are name-based and don't require fingerprints. However, if your name and date of birth match another individual in the database, fingerprints will be required for accurate identification. We offer both digital fingerprinting and ink-and-roll fingerprinting services on-site.

On a standard CPIC check, withdrawn and dismissed charges typically do NOT appear. On a CRJMC check, only convictions and current outstanding matters (active charges, warrants, court orders) are disclosed. Old charges that were withdrawn, stayed, or dismissed are generally not included. However, conditional and absolute discharges do appear for 3 years and 1 year respectively.
